During the workshop, Da Nang Department of Science and Technology focused on disseminating Law on Energy Efficiency and informing about the projects and programs of energy saving which were being implemented. The Department also introduced project "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Applications in Da Nang City in the Period from 2011 to 2015".
Being a city with a rather high growth rate and high energy
consumption, Da Nang has been implementing a series of projects and programs of
energy efficiency extensively. According to the statistics, at present, small
and medium enterprises in Da Nang account for more than 90% of all businesses. The
annual energy consumption rate in.
Da Nang is 800 million kWh, of which the commercial electricity consumption by production units and businesses is about 700 million kWh. Besides, the amount of FO and DO used for production is increasing year by year.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Huynh Phuoc, Director of Da Nang Department of Science and Technology confirmed the workshop was one of the practical activities to help businesses and provinces access knowledge and technologies of energy efficiency, thereby devising solutions to energy saving.
Mr. Phuoc added that, since 2005, through more than 6 programs and projects of energy efficiency and renewable energy use, which had been or were being implemented, Da Nang had provided energy audit consultancy for 75 agencies, saving an equivalent of VND11.8 billion a year.
Also at the workshop, the Bach Khoa Investment and Development of Solar Energy (BK-IDSE) introduced and displayed a number of application products of energy efficiency; introduced some of the energy projects, among which a notable one was the Master Project: Clean Energy and Lighting in the Spratly Islands and Oil Rigs. It is known that under the framework of national targets on energy efficiency, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a decision authorizing IDSE BK to support the installation of industrial-scale water heating systems using solar energy in hotels and industrial facilities across the country.
