The Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) and Siemens Group have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU), marking a new development in cooperation between the two energy giants.
According to Pham Le Thanh, EVN General Director, his firm has cooperated with Siemens, one of the world’s leading energy corporations, in many big projects, including the Ba Ria 1 and Phu My 2-1 thermo-power plants, as well as other transmission line and transformer station projects.
Siemens is a major partner of EVN in supplying electricity equipment. The company has also coordinated with EVN in information sharing, personnel training and financial management, he said.
Pham Thai Lai, General Director of Siemens Vietnam, said his corporation is striving to support EVN in meeting Vietnam ’s power demand and fulfilling the country’s goal to become an industrialised nation by 2020.
The firm will also cooperate with EVN to develop skilled human resource and help the corporation access financial resources for power projects in the future, he said.
Lai added that Siemens will assist EVN successfully implement the 2010-20 national power development master plan, with a broader outlook to 2030, which is key for national economic development.
