The LCEE Project is steered towards Can Tho based SMEs in the food processing industry, for supporting these enterprises to better implement the energy-saving activities.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, a Project Officer explained the financial mechanism initiated by the Project for the banking representatives. Accordingly, the project provides financial support to businesses which are experiencing difficulty in borrowing for investment in energy-saving activities. The interest rates of these loans shall be directly negotiated between the enterprises and the banks.

Representatives from the locally-based banks show their concerns  in the LCEE project

800 hours to be counted after the would-be project deployment, a group of independent evaluators will assess the results of the project implementation, and they will also measure the saved energy gained by the enterprises. Depending on the results of energy savings, the project will propose a payout of 10-30% of the due loan value. The loan between the bank and the enterprise shall be thus redeemed with rewards as direct deductions.

The Bank representatives expressed their concern and promised to continue to cooperate actively with LCEE Project. It is recognized that this is a mutually beneficial cooperation for both sides.
