Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai agreed to implement the project to supply electricity to 22,617 ethnic households in the northern mountainous Son La Province.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Son La Province People’s Committee were instructed to meet the target of supplying providing 86 percent of the local households with power. The project will supply electricity to 557 mountainous hamlets and 106 communes in 11 districts and one city with total investment of VND557 billion.

So far, 303km of medium-voltage lines, 141 transmission stations, and 531km of 0.4kV-electric lines have been built. However, due to fluctuations of material and labor costs, only 80 percent of the project has been implemented (7,540 households have not had access to electricity).

The project will be completed by the second quarter of this year.
