Tokyo-based Japan Asia Investment Co Ltd (TYO:8518) said today it began the works on a 1.99-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Shizuoka prefecture.
The solar park will represent an investment of JPY 1 billion (USD 9.8m/EUR 8.8m).
Once completed, around June 2017, the PV park will be able to produce some 3.41 million kWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual demand of 930 local homes. Its output will be sold to local utility Tokyo Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9501).

Back in July, the company also started the construction of another 2-MW PV plant, but in Ibaraki prefecture.
In all, Japan Asia Investment has a total capacity of 103.3 MW in its solar power portfolio, including projects in the planning stage, it noted.
