According to the initial calculation of Vietnam Public Lighting Project, the total power consumption in all lighting fields in the whole country accounts for 25% of commercial power, equivalent to 21,000 billion kWh per year. This rate is relatively high, especially in the current critical shortage of power.
So during the
past few years, Vietnam Energy Efficiency Public Light Project (VEEPL),
chaired by Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, sponsored by Global
Environment Fund (GEF) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), has
propagated and encouraged people to apply and develop energy saving public
lighting models in Vietnam.

framework of VEEPL, the media event is an opportunity for administrators,
lighting companies, lighting device producers, corporate and individual
consumers in
This is also a
chance for all levels and branches, professional organizations, businesses and
people to enhance the sense of saving energy in lighting, which will lead to
applying high efficiency, energy saving and environment-friendly lighting
models.
Especially, with this event, the Organizing Committee hopes that with the assistance of the press and central to local radios and televisions, energy saving activities in general and high efficiency lighting in particular will be widely propagated and draw the support and positive participation from the society.
The main
activities in the two-day event included conferences and talk-shows which
introduced high efficiency lighting models, foreign and domestic experiences in
the operation of energy service companies, investment solutions in high
efficiency lighting in small and medium cities.
Besides,
joining the event, representatives and guests also had an opportunity to join
the high efficiency activities exhibition with many products, publications on
high efficiency lighting and high efficiency public lighting models which were
applied in the region with the support of VEEPL.
At the end of
the event, if necessary, lighting companies, producers and units, regions may
come to sign contracts and corporate to invest, design and install high
efficiency public lighting systems.
