In the middle of November 2010, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will host the Business forum for sustainable development with the theme: "Promoting and strengthening the participation of related parties in the process of implementing sustainable development. "
The forum will have the participation of representatives from ministries, the Association of small and medium enterprises, several domestic and foreign corporations and enterprises and some international organizations.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has approved the plan to establish Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) chaired by VCCI to support businesses in implementing sustainable development strategy in Vietnam in the period from now to 2020.

Accordingly, from now to 2020, Vietnam will strive to build a sustainable, active and successfully integrated business community in the 21st century as a great contribution to national economic development, social progress, poverty reduction and environmental protection, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
One of the basic goals of VBCSD is to encourage businesses to increase the application of environmentally friendly science and technology in production. For example, applying the cleaner production process/technology to reduce emissions causing the greenhouse effect and protect the environment; committing to use energy economically and effectively in the production process; increasing the use of clean and renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions causing global climate change.
Enterprises need to use the water resource economically and apply effective methods for water resource management; enhance waste disposal, manufacture environmentally friendly products in order to eventually establish the recycling industry in Vietnam.
The forum Business for Sustainable Development aims to evaluate the role and actual participation of businesses in sustainable development in Vietnam and propose recommendations to strengthen the participation of enterprises in the implementation of sustainable development.
The discussion results of this forum will be compiled and reported at the plenary session of the 3rd Conference of National Sustainable Development shortly held after the forum , to be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.
