The European Union said it was looking for consultants to evaluate how consistent bloc-wide renewable energy targets are with national legislative measures.
The European Union's Energy Community Secretariat said it was looking for consultants to evaluate renewable energy and statistics.
"For renewable energy, the assessment will evaluate the viability and consistency of the 2020 [renewable energy] targets with the national legislative measures," the secretariat said Monday.
The EU is looking for ways to build on an energy plan that envisions a 20 percent increase in renewable energy use, a 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from a 1990 benchmark and a 20 percent increase in energy efficiency by 2020.
Also Monday, the secretariat ruled against Macedonia, saying it was the "only country" in the region that hasn't made any tangible progress on reforming its electricity market.
"Macedonia is requested to rectify the identified issues of non-compliance within a time limit of two months," the secretariat said.
