EDF Energy is investing more than £500,000 in efficient flats in London. The cash will be used to insulate 37 blocks in the Borough of Barking & Dagenham. The big six company is partnering with contractor Avalon as part of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO). The project is expected to cut around 18,000 tonnes of carbon emissions and bring “significant” savings on consumers’ fuel bills every year.

Eric Salomon, Energy Field Services Director at EDF Energy said: “This project will make a significant difference to the lives of local residents, who will benefit from lower fuel bills and much warmer homes. We are proud that we are able fund improvements for Avalon’s installation team to help people living in cold and hard to treat flats.”
The reform works started in April and is expected to be completed by Autumn 2015.
