The US Energy Department has announced a new centre to boost private sector investment in projects aimed at tackling climate change.
The Clean Energy Impact Investment (CEII) Centre will provide technical assistance, information, connections to other relevant government programmes.

It is part of the Obama Administration’s Clean Energy Investment Summit launched in February.
US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said: “The United States and other countries are providing substantial financial support to the development and commercialisation of clean energy technologies but if we are to achieve our climate goals, it is imperative that we find ways to incentivise the global capital markets to invest in clean energy.”
The Department will also start a pilot programme, investing $20 million (£12.6m) in clean energy research and small business assistance.
