Launch of the 2024 Online Study Competition on Energy Efficiency and Conservation

23/09/2024

On September 18, 2024, in Da Nang, the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in collaboration with related units, held a ceremony to launch 2024 online study competition on Energy Efficiency and Conservation.

The competition aims to diversify forms of communication and enhance the outreach activities of the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the 2019-2030 period (VNEEP 3). It seeks to raise public awareness about energy efficiency and conservation, implementing the Prime Minister's Directive 20 on strengthening energy-saving efforts for the period 2023-2025 and beyond.
Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade), delivered the opening speech at the launch ceremony.
This marks the third consecutive year that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has organized the online study competition on "Energy Efficiency and Conservation". Over the past two years, the competition has attracted more than 200,000 participants, with nearly 400,000 responses submitted online.
The competition is conducted online on the VNEEP program’s official website, a new and creative form of communication about energy-saving that is both highly effective and cost-efficient. This format received enthusiastic participation from a wide range of people nationwide from its first year.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, Head of Business Division of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), gave a speech in support of the competition.
The competition is open to everyone, regardless of geographic location or age. The impressive number of participants and responses to each round of the competition highlights the public's strong interest in energy-saving issues, while also reflecting the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s successful efforts in promoting public awareness about energy efficiency.
The competition serves as a platform to boost the dissemination of legal regulations on energy use and efficiency. The results of each round will be widely published on the program’s website and its social media pages.
The organizers hope that with questions relating to energy-saving practices in daily life, the competition will continue to attract wide participation from various groups across the country. This will contribute to spreading the message of the Vietnam National Energy Efficiency Programme, as well as general knowledge on energy-saving.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also held a seminar on "Energy Efficiency and Conservation: Implementation Effectiveness and the Role of Local Communication." The seminar provided an opportunity for journalists and officials working in the field of energy efficiency at the local level to discuss and share strategies for promoting energy-saving initiatives.
The 2024 online study competition on "Energy Efficiency and Conservation" is hosted at https://cuocthi2024.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn/, running from 8:00 AM on September 18, 2024, to 12:00 PM on October 22, 2024, and is divided into 5 rounds.
The competition content includes topics on energy-saving in households, industries, construction, transportation, offices, energy policies, energy labels, and the Earth Hour campaign.
All Vietnamese citizens and foreigners living, studying, and working both within and outside the country can participate. The competition consists of 5 rounds, each featuring 10 questions on relevant topics and one question predicting the number of participants. Each question may have more than one correct answer.
Participants have up to 10 minutes to answer 10 questions, with each correct answer earning 10 points.
Participants can join the competition from their personal computers or mobile devices, and each person is allowed up to 5 attempts per round. The system will calculate the highest score achieved.
Winners are those who answer the most questions correctly in the shortest time and provide the most accurate prediction of the number of participants in each round. If multiple participants score 100 points, the organizers will consider their predictions. In case of identical predictions, the fastest response time will be the deciding factor.
For each round, the organizers will award 5 prizes to the top 5 participants. The special prize is 3,000,000 VND for the participant with the most accurate answers and predictions in the shortest time, while the other prizes are 1,000,000 VND each.
