Thai Thuy Footwear Co., Ltd. has been increasingly emphasizing the implementation of energy-saving and efficiency measures. These innovative electricity-saving solutions help the company reduce costs, lower product prices, enhance competitiveness, and contribute to environmental protection, energy security, and sustainable development.

A recent seminar on industrial energy conservation organized by the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy (under the Department of Industry and Trade) at Thai Thuy Footwear drew nearly 200 workers. This turnout reflects the workforce's interest in the benefits of energy savings in production. During the seminar, workers were introduced to the Law on Economic and Efficient Energy Use and practical electricity-saving measures aimed at reducing costs and boosting production efficiency.

The seminar was part of a series of awareness-raising activities by the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy to equip local businesses with essential knowledge on energy efficiency, contributing to the successful implementation of the Vietnam National Energy Efficiency Programme.

Mr. Tran Xuan Binh, a worker at Thai Thuy Footwear, said: "This seminar provided us with knowledge about operating principles, system technology, and energy-saving techniques for the footwear production lines in the factory. It has improved our understanding of managing and conserving energy, reducing production costs, and enhancing the company’s business performance."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, a worker from Production Line 2, noted: "The company has replaced fluorescent lighting with LED lights and installed inverters for motors in the production process. These changes have improved workplace lighting, ensured quieter machine operation, and reduced electricity consumption."

According to Ms. Tran Thi Dien, Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy: To raise awareness among businesses about using energy efficiently, the center has launched several initiatives. One of these included hosting seminars at Thái Thụy Footwear. These seminars have motivated companies to adopt energy-saving measures, especially during periods of intense heat when localized electricity shortages in northern regions affect production.

Thai Thuy Footwear Co., Ltd. spans an area of 30,000 square meters and operates over 1,000 sewing and cutting machines, along with storage facilities. This makes its energy consumption significantly high.

Ms. Tran Thi Loan, a company representative, explained that production facilities consume substantial electricity due to workers’ limited habits and awareness of energy conservation. Therefore, educating employees about the benefits of saving electricity and other energy sources has yielded practical results. The company has launched campaigns and rewards programs to recognize individuals and teams committed to energy conservation. Outdated, energy-intensive equipment is gradually replaced with energy-efficient alternatives. LED lighting systems are prioritized for production lines, warehouses, and workshops. The company has also implemented a central air-conditioning system, regularly inspects operational equipment, and promptly resolves issues causing energy loss. Employees in all workshops are encouraged to practice energy-saving measures and use electricity responsibly. We’ve adopted inverter technology to control motor speeds for production equipment based on real-time requirements. Moreover, to save energy, we’ve installed a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 1.1 MWp. Since its operation, this system has reduced grid electricity consumption by 10%. Thanks to the adoption of energy-saving measures, the company has not only cut production costs but also supported the electricity sector in effectively managing grid loads in Thai Thuy district. In 2023, Thai Thuy Footwear achieved revenue of VND 300 billion and provided jobs for thousands of local workers.

In the context of rising input fuel costs and increasing market competition, energy conservation—particularly electricity savings—has become integral to Thai Thuy Footwear’s operations. It is also a way for the company to alleviate the burden on the electricity sector, particularly during peak summer periods.
