On October 24, 2015, German House Company Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City held the official ground breaking ceremony for construction of the German Styled House at 33 Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

In the afternoon of Oct. 23, 2015, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired the steering meeting to set up a mechanism to support the development of solar power projects to ensure prioritized objectives in new and renewable energy sources to meet the energy demands of the country.

Vietnam has huge potential of renewable energy sources, widely distributed across the country, with nearly 3,400km of coastline to provide potential wind energy resources, estimated at 500 -1000 kWh/m2 per year.

Pursuant to the National Strategy for Green Growth by 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, Vietnam identified three strategic assignments: Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and promotion of clean renewable energy; green production, greening of lifestyles and promotion of sustainable consumption.

The resources of traditional energy in Hai Phong are depleted by fast economic development and high demand of energy. Therefore, not only the efficient and economical use of traditional energy but also the adaptation of renewable energy should be promoted for a sustainably economic development and environmental conservation.

General Department of Energy has cooperated with the Department of Emulation and Commendation, awarded a medallion "For the Development of Industry and Trade of Vietnam," to Mr. Werner Kossmann - Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) of Vietnam Renewable energy development project. This project is funded by the German government and started its operation in 2012.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai assigned the Government Affairs Office and Ministry of Industry and Trade the task to develop a study scheme, and submit it to the Government for issuance of a Strategy for development of renewable energy in Vietnam toward 2030 and vision to 2050.

The lower efficiencies mean that it takes years for homeowners and businesses to recoup the money they invest in solar power systems. If the efficiencies were higher, that time for return on investment would be slashed, people would be able to cover more of their power loads with renewable energy and solar power would be much more enticing to people and corporations.

This information was released in the press conference with the participation of the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam Water Supply Association, the South East Asian Water Utilities Network, and Science and Technology Union of Renewable Energy.
