The new location in Prineville is expected to create 35 new long-term employment opportunities in the area, not including the 1,300 people who worked to develop and construct the center in the rural community.

"This is a great day for Facebook and it is a great day for Prineville and Central Oregon," said State Treasurer Ted Wheeler, a longtime social media user who spoke for the Governor at the grand opening ceremony. "I am updating my Facebook status as we speak. It says: 'The Prineville data facility is open for business… and Oregon is open for business'."
