The Miami area will get its first
solar-powered ATMs, according to Expert Group, who will be producing and
deploying the ATMs in the area.
Solar panels, which will be connected to a circuit breaker board that feeds a
power controller, will be on top of the ATMs. Collected energy is stored in the
power collector to allow the ATMs to be operational at night.
"We are planning to put 100 solar-powered ATMs in various areas in Miami
in the near future," Robert Rico, chairman of financing for the Expert
Group, said. "The wonderful thing about these machines is that they are
not costly and will provide our customers with the chance to contribute to
helping the environment."
The Expert Group markets financial products and said it is rapidly becoming a
leader in the Florida market.
According to the Florida Solar Energy Research and Education Foundation, about
15,000 solar water heater, pool heater and electric systems are installed
annually across the state. This saves 180,000 barrels of fuel, reduces the
amount spent on utilities by $35 million and offsets CO2 emissions by 300,000
tons, the FSEREF says on its website.
