The 5th International Exhibition and Seminar on Nuclear Power will be held in Hanoi from October 25-27.
The seminar on “Nuclear power development in Vietnam in post-Fukushima era” will be focused on developing modern technologies and national infrastructure for nuclear power plants.
Participants will join in an exchange between domestic and foreign companies on site evaluation for construction of nuclear power plants; design; manufacturing, construction and installation of a nuclear power plant; consultancy for establishing an investment project; evaluation of an investment project, preparation of bidding documents (EPC) and evaluation of EPC; selection of EPC contractor, consultancy for evaluating safety analysis reports, consultancy for inspecting the construction, installation, startup and operation of nuclear power plants; and human resource training projects.
Along with the seminar, an exhibition will take place with the participation of leading nuclear firms from Canada, the Republic of Korea, the US, Russia, Japan and France which are every experienced in the field of nuclear power, from which Vietnam hopes to find suitable partners for its nuclear power projects.
However, Dr. Vuong Huu Tan, Head of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS) said these projects must be carefully considered to avoid dangerous risks as seen in Japan’s Fukushima accident in March 2011.
Nuclear power projects in Vietnam must be implemented on a legal basis in line with the regulations and guidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he added.
