Power-One Inc. (Camarillo, California, U.S.) will showcase its first residential energy storage solution at the Solar Energy UK trade show in Birmingham, England from October 8th-10th, 2013. The Renewable Energy Accumulator and Conversion Technology (REACT) will be commercially available in 2014.

REACT consists of a 4.6 kW single-phase inverter and a lithium-ion battery

REACT consists of a 4.6 kW single-phase Power-One inverter and a lithium-ion battery, which will provide 2 kWh of usable capacity. PowerOne notes that the solution will allow home owners and other property owners to store electricity produced by their PV systems at times with higher energy demand.

“Looking at increasing electricity prices and reduced feed-in tariffs, self-consumption as well as energy independence will be the central issues for the residential PV market in the UK in the upcoming years,” said PowerOne VP of Marketing Paolo Casini. “PV energy has to be available upon demand, since its feed-in to the grid is no longer worthwhile.”

“With REACT we enable homeowners and landlords to adjust energy production and consumption with their needs, helping them to increase self-consumption and save money on their energy bills with the energy storage solution. Products of this kind will play a major role in the increasing spread and establishment of renewable energy systems.”

REACT offers dual MPPT, blackout options

Features of the REACT system include fast dual maximum power point trackers, broad input voltage, and high efficiency. The system can be expanded up to three times its capacity by adding additional battery modules, and offers basic load management outputs and auxiliary AC output in the event of a blackout.

Power-One will also present its range of inverter products for small and residential PV plants, including its Aurora micro-inverters and CDD monitoring solution, at the show.
