Businesses in Luong Son Industrial Zone (Hoa Binh) usually organize production at off-peak hours to save energy and reduce production costs.

Mr. Ha Van Dan, Director of Hoa Binh Power Company, said: “After the Government issued Resolution 11, Hoa Binh Power Co. published the plan of distribution of power for customers and coordinated with the Provincial Television station and Hoa Binh newspaper to propagate the efficient use of power. Along with the propagation, Hoa Binh Power Co. has actively worked with cement factories and Trung Minh water factory, large power users, to recommend them to share difficulties with the electricity industry by organizing production during off-peak hours. Thus, consumption of electricity during peak hours every day dropped from 210,000 kWh (Mar 2011) to 170,000 kWh in Jul 2011, off-peak power output increased from 147,717 kWh to more than 190,000 kWh”.

For power saving of each household and each agency, administrative and professional unit in the area, to change consumers’ behaviors and awareness of electricity saving, Hoa Binh Power Company has coordinated with Rang Dong Light Source & Vacuum Flask J.S.C to supply nearly 20 thousand compact lamps to consumers in Hoa Binh; provide a subsidy of one million VND (fund of the Electricity of Vietnam) for each household installing solar water heater. In addition, Hoa Binh Power Company has also recorded the electricity use of agencies or units in the area, regularly reported to the province's Steering committee of electricity supply to praise and reward units with good implementation of power saving, and warn units which has not implemented well.

The policy of power efficiency of the company has become the habit of officers and employees in the workplace and each citizen. Agencies and administrative units committed to save 10% (electricity industry committed to save 15%) of daily demand for electricity. Thus, consumption of electricity in both April and May was 53.68 million kWh, more than 10% lower than the registered demand. The average monthly electricity bills of agencies, administrative and professional units decreased by 20% compared to previous months.

In these days, Hoa Binh Power Company and Rang Dong Light Source & Vacuum Flask J.S.C continue to deploy the program of providing 4000 compact bulbs for people with special difficulties in the two districts of Cao Phong, Da Bac to help households save electricity and ensure social security in the spirit of Resolution 11 of the Government.
