With insufficient awareness of the benefits of energy audits, many businesses only conduct energy audits as a response to government requests, instead of considering them as a solution to save energy, reduce production costs, protect the environment, and move towards sustainable development.

Malaysia initiates energy audits for medium and large-sized industries for the period of 2016-2025. Under this initiative, a free energy audit is offered with a requirement in which the owner needs to invest in energy savings measures with an amount equal to or higher than the cost of the audit. It is further complemented by energy management and monitoring to ensure the energy savings measures are on the right track.

The energy audit report conducted by Viet-Sing Steel in 2023 shows that the company's energy consumption is 0.4% lower than the energy consumption standard of the steel industry (as per Circular No. 20/2016/TT-BCT dated September 20, 2016, by the Ministry of Industry and Trade).

In July 2024, Van Dien Fused Magnesium Phosphate JSC conducted an energy audit. Energy audit experts assisted the company in identifying the optimal solutions for further energy-saving implementations.

Vietnam

The Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the Energy Conservation Research and Development Center (ENERTEAM), organizes training courses for "Energy Managers" and "Energy Auditors" in June and July.

C2.2.4: Support to Industrial Enterprises for Energy Audits and Preparation of Feasibility Studies.

By conducting energy audits, enterprises acknowledge what creates energy loss, hence making appropriate energy-efficient measures to improve effectiveness, reduce costs, and diminish environmental impact.

Energy audit is one of the tools to help businesses control energy consumption, thereby providing an effective saving solution, which is to conduct an energy audit.

The Article 33 of the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy mandates the key energy users (enterprises, companies) to have energy audited every 3 years.

From September 21st to September 25th 2015, a training course on “Energy Auditors” will be held by the Hanoi Energy Conservation Center (ECC Hanoi) – Hanoi Department of Energy and General Department of Energy – Ministry of Industry and Trade. This course, one of the activities in response to Vietnam National Energy Efficiency Programme, aims at raising the knowledge of Hanoi enterprises about energy audits.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Construction has listed over 400 works portfolio with approximately 2,500 m² of floor in Hanoi, HCM City, Da Nang and Can Tho for selection of 225 works to be surveyed, and energy audited in detail.

At the workshop, large energy consumers and experts in the field of power saving shared experience and new technology solutions to reduce the energy consumption rate, energy audits and improvement of the production system, and power consuming devices.

To encourage “Energy Conservation & Environment Protection” in the industrial sector PCRA has been continuously upgrading the energy conservation knowledge through energy audits and sharing the experience of energy efficiency improvement and achievement of industries.

Starting in August 2015, the Training Center will run its commissioning training with the first course for energy auditors, supported by the Japanese energy experts.

Jersey City officials are aiming to make city buildings more energy-efficient by implementing energy audits every three years, the city announced yesterday.

The Ho Chi Minh City Energy Conservation Center launched the support program to perform energy audit and establish the energy management system for 50 local businesses.
