Nhà máy điện gần làng Drax, cách Luân Đôn 150 km về phía Bắc thường tích trữ nhiều đống than lớn có khối lượng khoảng 3 triệu tấn ở phía tây nhà máy. Tuy nhiên, gần đây những người đứng đầu Drax Group, tập đoàn sở hữu nhà máy điện lại tự hào về một nguồn nhiên liệu khác ở phía Bắc: hàng nghìn kiện cỏ voi được xếp thành cột cao khoảng 9 m.

Tính đến hết năm 2009, Đồng Tháp đã biên soạn hoàn chỉnh nội dung tuyên truyền, hướng dẫn thực hiện TKNL trên hệ thống Phát thanh – tuyền hình, báo chí trên toàn tỉnh. Tổ chức thành công 7 cuộc hội thảo về sử dụng năng lượng tiết kiệm và hiệu quả trong các lĩnh vực: dân dụng, chiếu sáng công cộng, sản xuất trong đó nhiều hội thảo được tổ chức do tự huy động kinh phí từ các doanh nghiệp. Đặc biệt, Đồng Tháp đã xây dựng được Phòng trưng bày các sản phẩm TKNL nhằm giới thiệu, phổ biến rộng rãi các sản phẩm và các giải pháp TKNL.

To learn energy situation at the whole group and find opportunities to save energy cost, Vinacomin conducted energy audits at its 32 affiliates, including 12 coal-pit and 5 open-cast extraction businesses, 2 sieving units, 6 mechanical engineering units and 2 transport enterprises. The survey results showed that coal-pit extraction facilities could save between six to 14.7 percent of total power consumption, averaging 10.7 percent. If energy efficient measures were taken, these coal-pit extraction units could save nearly 30 million KWh (equal to 3,000 tonnes of oil equivalent) or more than VND25 billion each year.

China's newest livestock digester will reduce piles of dung, yield fertilizer and heat, and will supply 38,000 megawatt-hours of power annually to the state's power grid, enough to meet the average demand of some 15,000 Chinese residents. It produces biogas, a methane and carbon dioxide mix emanating from manure, grease, sewage or other organic materials allowed to stew in an oxygen-free chamber.
