On September 04, 2015, People’s Committee of Phu Yen Province held a conference to review the implementation of the 5-year programme on economical and effective use of energy 2011-2015. The conference was presided over by Mr. Tran Quang Nhat, member of Provincial Standing Committee, also Vice Chairman of People’s Committee.

According to the report of Department of Industry and Trade, over the past five years, Provincial People’s Committee has implemented several activities for the purpose of economical and effective use of energy such as propaganda about energy saving solutions, training in energy saving solutions in agencies and organizations, energy audit, establishment of database of energy in industrial production bases, operations, service facility; providing guidance and support for the businesses about the technical scientific and technological application in production, business activities, etc. 40,778,304 kWh, equal to over VND5 billion was saved in the province; in which, home power  accounted for over 20 billion kWh, power used in industrial production and service business (17.6 billion kWh), power used in administrative agencies (1.6 billion kWh).

Concluding at the conference, Mr. Tran Quang Nhat recommended that in the period 2016-2020, it would be necessary for branches and businesses to enhance education and propaganda, encourage community to promote economical and effective use of energy; provide information on equipment with high efficiency and energy saving; gradually reject low-efficiency equipment. In addition, the province would also promote implementation of energy saving in the Transport and Communications and agricultural production such as application of new technology, renewable energy in agricultural production.

On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to 4 groups and individuals having excellent performance in economical and effective use of energy in the period of 2011-2015.
