Training on Optimization of Energy Use in Technological System of Kiln

15/12/2015

During December 01 – 04, 2015, the General Directorate of Energy – Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Danish International Development Assistance ran a training course on “Optimization of energy use in technological system of kiln” – session 1. Technical experts from 3 regions of Vietnam attended the course.

During December 01 – 04, 2015, the General Directorate of Energy – Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Danish International Development Assistance ran a training course on “Optimization of energy use in technological system of kiln” – session 1. Technical experts from 3 regions of Vietnam attended the course.

The course is under the program of advancement in consulting capacity for suppliers of tuynel kiln, tuynel design and consulting agencies,  energy conservation agencies in the field of design, operation and maintenance of tuynel kiln industrial systems.

The purpose of the course is to help trainees acquire not only fundamental theories but also practically employ the methods of production systems, measurement and calculation of balance of energy and air of tuynel kiln system, then produce solutions for the optimization of energy use in design and operation.

During the observation and examination of brick and ceramic industrial production system, trainees practised addressing the issues concerning waste and ineffective use of energy in production stages and in design of production line systems in order to identify the potentials for energy saving and calculate energy consumption, so that after the training course, they have ability of entering in the accounts the cost/benefits of investment in improvement of the system as well as possible.

Mr. Sven Hjorth and Mr. Jorgen Krejbejrg, two Danish consultant experts and also trainers with nearly 40 years of experience in technology of brick production in Denmark, did the main teaching this course.

Danish consultant experts attended the course

During the first two days of the course, the trainees went through presentations on energy use in tuynel kiln system; energy waste in preparation and process of materials for production and in the drying stage. In addition, energy usage in burning brick and energy waste in this stage, working environment of workers in production system using tuynel burning kiln as well as environmental influences caused by impacts of energy waste in waste heat system were presented and analyzed clearly. The trainees positively made questions related to practical issues in brick kilns and discussed with two experts to figure out optimal solutions to these issues.

The trainees attended the training course – session 1

After two days of training in class, on December 03 - 04, the trainees participated in practice in two production bases using tuynel kilns which are Hoang Gia joint stock company (Yen Khe Commune, Thanh Ba, Phu Tho) and Hoang Long joint stock company (Nho Quan, Ninh Binh). These two companies have two different kiln systems using variant material sources and operating times. At these premises, the trainees were introduced how to use measuring equipment such as air flow-rate meter, temperature meter used for measuring temperature in kilns, oxygen meter.

At the same time, the trainees were classified into 4 groups to observe brick production, conduct investigation and assessment of tuynel kiln systems, and gather data as required by trainers. After collection of data, trainees continued to calculate the data and drew conclusions. Two lectures along with groups analyzed and evaluated the results of groups, then bring out necessary tasks for tuynel kiln systems of businesses.

After data collection, data were calculated

Experts and trainees analyzed the data after calculations

By the end of the training session, the participants evaluated the training course – session 1 and were granted with course completion certificates in optimization of energy use in tuynel kiln technological systems – session 1. Trainees were assigned to practise independently in a brick production base using tuynel kiln in their own local areas and send reports to experts to receive comments from them in the next training session.

The second session  of the training course is expected to be held at the beginning of February, 2016 only for the participants who fulfilled the requirements  defined after the completion of the session 1 and had plan to develop the optimization of energy use in tuynel kiln technological system in one brick and ceramic production base.
