As a Japanese FDI company specializing in automotive electrical wiring systems, Yazaki operates two factories with a combined output of 20,000 tons of products annually and employs 5,500 workers. 100% of the Company's products are exported to Japan and North America markets. Given its large-scale production, the company has high electricity demand, particularly for its central air conditioning and compressed air systems, as well as its lighting systems across workshops, warehouses, and security areas.
The lighting system in the factory of Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd., Thai Binh branch uses LED bulbs.
The factory has implemented various energy-saving measures, as outlined by Mr. Le Van Nguyen, the factory manager. He emphasized that all machinery and equipment used in the plant are modern, highly efficient, and energy-saving. For example, the LED lighting system, and the air conditioning system employ two-way inverter technology. The company optimizes its production processes and continually enhances technical aspects to minimize electricity consumption and boost machine efficiency. Regular training and workshops on energy conservation are held, encouraging staff and workers to participate in energy-saving initiatives and propose technical innovations to improve productivity and reduce raw material and fuel consumption.
At Yazaki, idle machines are a rare sight, and lighting is only turned on in areas where workers are actively present. Workers have developed a habit of checking and turning off electrical equipment and machines after their shifts, contributing to both energy savings and safety by preventing potential electrical hazards.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hiep, a longtime employee, explained: "After working here for 12 years, I see that all workers have the habit of turning on lights only in areas where production activities are happening and switching them off when not in use. This ensures safety for machinery, reduces the risk of electrical fires, and saves electricity. The company also provides an excellent working environment and ensures workplace safety for all employees."
The central chiller air conditioning system with inverter technology is regularly maintained, further contributing to electricity savings.
These efforts not only deliver financial benefits but also enhance production efficiency. Mr. Le Van Nguyen revealed that through energy-saving measures, the company saved approximately 120 million VND in the last seven months of 2023. This amount was reinvested into upgrading and modernizing technology, continually improving product quality and the working environment.
Mr. Le Cong Khanh, Deputy Director of Thai Binh City's Power Company, praised Yazaki as a key energy user in the region. He noted that the company has implemented numerous specific energy-saving solutions and actively collaborates with the city's power company to adjust its load during power supply changes and shift energy usage away from peak hours. This cooperation has brought tangible benefits to the company and contributed to the safety and reliability of the national grid system.
