Mr Dang Thanh Liem, the Director of Department of Industry and Trade, said that the lamps would automatically turn on when it gets dark with the brightness equivalent to current public lamps. The life cycle of each lamp is up to 50,000 hours. The maintenance and replacement cost are zero for 10 years. It also reduces the CO2 emission by 313kg/lamp/year.

Tien Giang Province has planned to continue to invest in 40 lamp posts of this type on the one-kilometer-long urban road and to test the installation of energy-saving lamps for off-shore fishing vessels to reduce oil consumption.
