"You can save 10 to 20 percent of your energy costs just by paying attention to when and how you use energy in your home," said a member of Middleboro's Green Energy Committee. "Then you can save even more by improving the windows and insulation. On top of all that, use renewables like solar or wind to generate your own electricity.

Area residents can learn how to save energy and reduce their energy bills at the Green Energy Fair this Saturday.

The Green Energy Fair will have displays from over 20 services and materials providers from the area. Free information and lots of advise will be available. Speakers will make presentations on a number of topics. The fair is open from 10 in the morning through 2 in the afternoon and will take place in the ballroom of the historic Town Hall. The ballroom is handicap accessible by elevator.

During the Green Energy Fair, there will also be an opportunity to recycle electric appliances of all types. The Soule Homestead will be using part of the Town Hall parking lot for electronic recycling. For reasonable fees (most $5 or $10) electrical devices from computers, TVs, and even old washers, driers, and refrigerators will be recycled in an environmentally sensitive way. "We will take just about everything that has an electric cord," said a Soule Homestead representative.

The Green Energy Fair is being sponsored by the Green Energy Committee. The GEC was created by the Middleboro selectmen and its focus is on energy conservation and alternative energy generation.
