At Feiplastic 2015, battenfeld-cincinnati will present its extrusion systems for pipe, profile and thermoforming sheet that offer both high performance and efficiency and save costs and resources.
Complete line competence for large diameter pipe extrusion from a single source
battenfeld-cincinnati has successfully installed more than 100 pipe extrusion lines for pipe diameters from 800 mm upwards. The largest lines currently in production are for 2,500 mm pipes, but battenfeld-cincinnati is already manufacturing a line for a pipe diameter of 2,600 mm. Due to the large dimensions and the amount of raw material and energy needed, product quality is especially crucial.
SolEX 40 L/D single screw extruders offer excellent melt quality at low melt temperatures even for the highest output rates. At NPE in March 2015 the solEX 150 was introduced, the newest model in the series, which reaches outputs of up to 2,750 kg/h for HDPE applications. A wide range of die concepts ensures that optimal wall thickness distribution and ovality values are achieved and sagging is significantly reduced, thanks to a special internal pipe cooling system. This helps to save both energy input and material costs.
New twin screw extruder model for high-output PVC pipe, profile and sheet extrusion
The twinEX series of parallel twin screw extruders is designed to enable substantial energy cost savings, coupled with excellent plastification and flexibility in processing a wide range of compounds and materials. The new model, the twinEX 148-28, is particularly suited for large diameter pipe extrusion, high-output profile extrusion as well as foamed PVC sheet extrusion. It can process both virgin and regrind PVC with output rates of up to 2,000 kg/h.
A wide range of screws is available to fit the application and material used, with surface treatment and coatings of the screw and barrel tailored to customers’ needs to ensure optimal wear protection and a long service life.
A decade of high-speed extrusion: best performance, energy and material savings in thermoforming sheet extrusion
battenfeld-cincinnati’s 75 mm, high-speed single screw extruders reach outputs of up to 1.8 t/h with a small machine size and optimal melt attributes, but use 25 per cent less energy than conventional extruders of comparable size. This technology has been further improved by the introduction of the adiabatic high-speed extruder with an optimised intake zone that only needs heating for start-up. The first commercial version of this extruder has already been running successfully in the field for a year.
Flexible and efficient “EMS” technology for best pelletising results
battenfeld-cincinnati offers a range of counter-rotating twin screw extruders for flexible processing of PVC materials. The highlight of these machines is the “EMS” technology: it enables stepless adjustment of the back pressure gap and exact control of melt attributes at any time during production. This ensures a wide processing window at optimal conditions with the result of excellent product quality. In addition, the barrel adjustment facility allows for processing both soft and rigid PVC with one pair of screws with outputs of up to 1,800 kg/h. This saves both energy and investment costs.
