Previous news were saying that the Obama administration doesn’t have any plans of installing solar panels on the White House. Not even a month has passed, and a representative of the White House in Washington, DC says solar panels will be installed on the White House in order to impulse Americans to adopt green energy.
In 1979, former president Jimmy Carter had the same initiative, but Ronald Reagan disapproved and took them down. Energy Secretary Steven Chu supports the program that aims at showing Americans that green and clean energy is the future.

“This project reflects President Obama’s strong commitment to US leadership in solar energy and the jobs it will create here at home,” Chu said. According to him, “deploying solar energy technologies across the country will help America lead the global economy for years to come”.
This action comes just weeks after Lady Michelle Obama launched a garden at the White House in an attempt to encourage Americans to eat fresh and healthy food. Barack Obama administration has made efforts to support a new green economy and encourage clean and renewable energy technologies. In January Obama promised that the government would cut carbon emissions by 28 percent in 10 years time.
One supporter of the White House administration’s project says “If it has anything like the effect of the White House garden, it could be a trigger for a wave of solar installations across the country and around the world”.
