The multinational OPDE, who specialises in the development, construction and operation of photovoltaic farms, has completed the construction of three new photovoltaic plants located in England. The new installations will reach a combined power of 15 MW with an electrical generation sufficient to power 6,000 homes.
The new Solar farms are located near the towns of Colston Bassett, Nottinghamshire; Crewkerne, Somerset; and in Iwade near Sittingbourne, Kent. The three solar farms have been successfully connected to the grid and are fully operational.
The completion of these three new projects in England has been achieved only a few weeks after obtaining planning consent for a further solar farm of 5MWp located in Cumbria.
The multinational outlines that the completion of these projects confirms the Companies commitment to the UK market: "For OPDE, this is a strategic market where we have successfully consolidated our presence with the accumulation of 90 MW of developed capacity".
The UK Government has set a target of 20 gigawatts of solar photovoltaic installed capacity by 2020 which has boosted the sector "Our global experience in the development and construction of over 240MWp of solar farms and with a further 800MW under development has been extremely welcomed in the United Kingdom, where we will continue working for the coming months".
Amongst other markets, OPDE is currently active in Italy, Spain, Mexico, United States and Chile.
