On November 1st, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a workshop to prepare the development program for biogas.

This is the “Quality and Safety Enhancement of Agricultural Products and Biogas Development Project” (QSEAP, VIE 39421), which was signed between the Government of Vietnam and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Hanoi in June 2009.

This technical assistance project is funded by the Official Development Assistance from ADB. Accordingly, the project will support Vietnam's agricultural sector in making new loan proposal and enhancing the development of biogas for clean energy, improving safety of agricultural products and reducing the pollution risk of livestock waste to people's health.

According to statistics in 2010, approximately 20% of farms in the country use biogas. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has laid down as a policy the promotion and development of this program through various resources and called on the support and assistance of international organizations, including the important contribution of ADB. The project is expected to be basically completed in June 2012.
