Hanoi Energy Conservation Center Director Dao Hong Thai said that the Hon Gai Coal One Member Limited Company of the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) provides a typical example in the implementation of energy-saving solutions.
According to a survey on the implementation of energy audit activities for all members of Vinacomin, the National Institute of Mining-Metallurgy Science and Technology admitted that energy-saving potential in the coal industry was large. If numerous energy-saving solutions were applied, its potential would become larger, contributing to saving costs and reducing the large amount of CO2 gas emissions. Therefore, the Hon Gai Coal One Member Limited Company has adopted a series of solutions in order to achieve energy-saving goal.
The company has used compact fluorescent bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs and installed energy-saving devices, such as air conditioners and refrigerators mounted inverter. In addition, the company has undertaken the installation of capacitors and inverters to save energy for engines with a capacity of over 30kW. In particular, the company has used large loading capacity trucks and electric conveyors in order to save gas and oil. Thanks to the implementation of energy-saving solutions, the company has achieved greater production efficiency, contributing to minimizing costs and further improving their competitiveness.
The Hon Gai Coal One Member Limited Company participated in the 2012 Energy Management Contest in the industry and building sector and the company won the second prize due to the implementation of a series of solutions, such as managing the operating status of machinery and equipment in production line by the SCADA system and using the system to detect unusual phenomenon in capacitors. Thanks to the implementation of these energy-saving solutions, the company has saved nearly VND50 billion per year and reduced CO2 gas emissions by 2,320 tonnes per year. In addition, power consumption at the company fell from 7.64 kWh of electricity in 2010 to 7.27 kWh of electricity in 2011.
Hanoi Energy Conservation Center Director Dao Hong Thai said that energy-saving was an important issue in the context of current economic difficulties. The implementation of reasonable and effective energy usage could bring higher profits at minimal cost, contributing to improving business competitiveness. The application of energy management systems in businesses has contributed to minimizing production costs and negative impacts on the environment as well as improving the image and reputation of the company. Together with the implementation of a series of unique energy-saving solutions, the Hon Gai Coal One Member Limited Company was one of typical businesses in the coal industry.
