HCM city saves over 288.94 million kWh of electricity in July

In July 2013, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation managed to save over 288.94 million kWh of electricity, accounting for 2.83% of the commercial electricity, reaching 79.6% of the target in the year 2013, and increasing by 2.35% as compared to the same period last year.

Accordingly, the Corporation boosted the energy efficiency programs such as “together we use electricity in the safe and efficient way” program, which was launched in 44 places including 13 schools and 31 summer public places in HCM city. The program with the aid given gratis of VND40.8 million attracted the participation of 5,560 students. 

The program “The safe, modern and efficient lighting source” with the topic “together we save energy for social security” launched by the corporation’s Youth Union grew out of its initial plan to attract 1,054 over 1000 families participating. With the budget of VND843.89 million, the program appealed over 1,815 participants who were students and union members. The program also gave the Vietnamese heroic mothers, policy families and poor households 199 presents with a total value of VND174.4 million. Besides, 210 presents with the total value of VND63 million were also given to the poor children in this area.

The project “Energy saving routes” was implemented in 25 different routes in the city. It aimed to encourage individual business customers taking part in saving energy, cutting 50% of electricity used for light advertisements in the rush hours, etc. The program promoting the widespread application of solar water heating has been implemented with 7 vendors working with EVN and 3 suppliers supporting MOIT’s projects.
