On September 26th, Thai An Hydropower Joint Stock Company inaugurated Thai An Hydropower Plant - one of 15 key projects to celebrate the 15th Party Congress of Ha Giang province.

Thai An Hydropower Plant is built in Thai An commune (Quan Ba district) and Thuan Hoa commune (Vi Xuyen district). The plant has the capacity of 82MW, with the total investment of more than VND2,000 billion, According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Dao, Chairman of the Board, General Director of Thai An Hydropower JSC.

This is the second largest hydropower project of Ha Giang province which broke ground on 11th August 2007. Being put into operation, the plant will produce and add to the national grid nearly 400 million kWh of electricity annually, with the revenue of nearly VND300 billion, contribute VND30 billion per year to the local budget and create jobs for a large local labor force.

This factory uses clean energy which is renewable and cheaper than other power sources in the power system.

The completion of Thai An hydropower plant will contribute significantly to the economic development of Ha Giang province, overcome the power shortage in the locality and share the pressure of power shortage of Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
