Launching Nationwide Energy Conservation Campaign in Response to Earth Hour 2025

The Ministry of Industry and Trade launches the "Nationwide Energy Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025" campaign.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities, its affiliated units, and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) regarding coordinating activities in response to the campaign "Nationwide Energy Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025."
Building on Earth Hour's widespread impact and previous years' achievements, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will launch the campaign "Nationwide Energy Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025" in March 2025 with the message "Green Transition - Green Future".
The Earth Hour 2025 lights-off event will take place from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
To ensure effective and widespread communication, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requests the following:
For the People's Committees of Provinces and Centrally Governed Cities
- Organize media campaigns calling on the public to join the Government in practicing energy conservation in response to Earth Hour 2025. (Promotional materials prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade are available at www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn under the "Media Publications" section - Vietnamese version only).
- Implement activities that encourage public participation in energy conservation, integrating them with local electricity-saving programs in line with Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on strengthening electricity saving for the period 2023-2025 and beyond.
- Mobilize organizations, agencies, and individuals to switch off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances during the lights-off event from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
- Encourage organizations, agencies, and individuals to participate in the online running challenge in support of the "Nationwide Energy Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025" campaign. The challenge will be held online at https://tapchicongthuong.vn/ from March 8, 2025, to March 31, 2025.
For Units Under and Affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade
a) For Departments, Agencies, and Institutes
- Promote awareness among officials, public servants, employees, and workers about energy conservation and encourage participation in Earth Hour 2025.
- Encourage participation in the online competition on safe and efficient electricity usage in response to Earth Hour 2025. The competition will take place from March 8 to March 28, 2025, register at www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn.
- Organize and encourage participation in the running event, held in person in Hanoi (at Tran Nhan Tong Walking Street, Nguyen Du Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) on the morning of March 8, 2025. The event will also be available online via QR code from March 8, 2025, to March 31, 2025.
b) For Universities and Colleges
- Promote awareness among students to support the Government in practicing energy conservation and participating in Earth Hour 2025.
- Organize student participation in the online competition on safe and efficient electricity usage in response to Earth Hour 2025. The competition will take place from March 8, 2025, to March 28, 2025, register at www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn.
- Encourage students to join the online running challenge in support of the "Nationwide Energy Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025" campaign. The challenge will be available online at https://tapchicongthuong.vn/ from March 8, 2025, to March 31, 2025.
For Vietnam Electricity (EVN)
a) Surveying Training Needs and Organizing Workshops on Energy Conservation
- Direct affiliated units to conduct an online survey on training needs.
- Assign personnel to develop educational materials on energy conservation for households, offices, buildings, and awareness campaigns targeted at students.
- Coordinate the organization of training workshops in Northern Vietnam, scheduled for March 2025.
- Collaborate in hosting the "Electricity Conservation Advocacy Competition."
b) Promoting Nationwide Energy Conservation and Earth Hour 2025 Participation
- Raise awareness and encourage public participation in energy conservation and Earth Hour 2025. (The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s promotional materials are available at www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn under the "Media Publications" section - Vietnamese version only).
- Mobilize staff, employees, and youth union members in Hanoi to take part in the "Nationwide Energy Conservation and Earth Hour 2025 Running Event," scheduled for March 8, 2025, in Hanoi.
- Mobilize staff, employees, and youth unions to participate in the Earth Hour 2025 online race at https://tapchicongthuong.vn/. The race will be held from March 8, 2025 to March 31, 2025.
- Mobilize all staff, employees, and customers to participate in the Online Contest to learn about safe and economical electricity use in response to Earth Hour 2025. The time of organization is from March 8 to March 28, 2025. Participate in the contest at: www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn.
- Encourage organizations, agencies, and customers to turn off lights and unnecessary electrical devices during the lights-off event in response to Earth Hour 2025.
- Instruct EVN’s regional corporations and provincial power companies to support Earth Hour 2025 by conducting awareness campaigns at customer service centers and EVN offices throughout March 2025.
- Ensure electrical grid safety during the event.
- Summarize and report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the results of 1 hour of lights off in response to Earth Hour 2025 in Vietnam.
