Understanding that energy efficiency and conservation are the key solutions to reduce production and business costs, PIDVN has strictly complied with the Law on Energy Efficiency and Conservation. Specifically, the company has established an Energy Management Board to define each member's functions and specific responsibilities and has developed and issued an energy usage policy. Members directly involved in the Energy Management Board are given priority for training to gain knowledge on efficient energy use, which they then disseminate and apply across the company.
To identify potential for energy savings and propose energy efficiency measures, the company conducts energy audits every three years. The most recent audit was in October 2021. These audits help the company choose and implement technological and operational management solutions to ensure energy is used efficiently.
The company has installed inverters for AHU (Air Handling Unit) air conditioning systems to control motor speed, resulting in a 7% energy saving, equivalent to 336,336 kWh/year. An upgrade to the exhaust duct system to capture the hot air from chillers, reducing air conditioning energy consumption, has saved 86,400 kWh/year.
Additionally, to save energy, the company has optimized AHU operations; used high-efficiency vacuum pumps; improved the hot air exhaust duct system for chillers; installed partitions in air-conditioned zones; added motion sensors to control cooling tower fans; redesigned lighting layouts in clean rooms 1 and 2; installed solar energy systems; and regularly checked and repaired air leaks.
Energy Management and Monitoring System.
The company also uses Panasonic's Energy Management System software to automate the monitoring and management of systems, setting operational schedules for devices such as lighting systems, air conditioning, air compressors, ventilation systems, etc. Electronic meters are installed to monitor energy consumption by area, and energy managers record and compare monthly data, enabling them to plan adjustments based on actual conditions.
By implementing innovative initiatives, investing in new technologies, and promoting individual employee awareness of energy saving, PIDVN has reduced energy consumption by 1,109,279 kWh/year (from 9,749,290 kWh/year to 8,540,012 kWh/year), saving nearly VND 2.5 billion in electricity costs annually.
To continue reducing energy consumption, the company is implementing a plan for efficient and economical energy use. Key initiatives include: improving chiller exhaust to reduce molding room temperatures and air conditioning load; increasing chiller temperature settings and installing water-spray cooling systems to reduce AC power use; upgrading and utilizing water pipelines to reduce electricity usage by cooling machines; installing sensors to control cooling fans; and expanding solar energy systems.
