The European Commission has launched a €100 million (£72.3m) pot for projects aimed at connecting energy networks across the EU.

The new proposals are to create a single energy market to help the EU lower prices, improve interconnectivity, move towards a lower carbon future, increase energy efficiency and counteract Russia’s ‘monopoly’ on gas supplies to the continent.

DECC is providing another £70 million to fund energy efficiency improvements in households across England and Wales.

The country’s Secretary of the Economy believes it is a safe and important part of Mexico’s energy reforms and it faces little opposition from the public.

For more than 1 year of energy labeling for household appliances, the energy labeled consumer products are becoming increasingly popular and trusted by clients in making their choices.

It is estimated that sustainable lighting could result in initial energy savings of 50-80 percent and lower annual CO2 emissions by 3,000 – 4,000 tons. Retrofitting will be equivalent to savings of $1.2 – $1.7 million per year in energy costs.

Inertech is delivering innovative energy solutions for data centers, which use a free cooling cycle and make it possible to cut cooling energy consumption by up to 90% and water usage by up to 80%, depending on local conditions.

Compared to conventional control methods, the atl Platform can reduce up to 20% of the kW consumed and up to 30% of the overall energy costs of the WWTP.

A new centralized SON (self-organizing network) solution, Nokia iSON Manager provides an energy-saving function to minimize energy consumption of LTE networks. In a pilot project, Nokia iSON Manager helped Korea Telecom save 40 % on its consumption by shutting down particular frequencies when they weren’t needed.

The effect of burning one ton of cow dung equals that of burning half a ton of coal. Figures show that South Korea is able to use 3.5 million tons of cow dung as an auxiliary fuel per year, which means reducing coal consumption by 1.75 million tons and saving nearly 220 billion won (about 200 million U.S. dollars).

According to the Hanoi Energy Conservation Centre (Hanoi ECC), building blocks were one of the central objects to be subject to energy saving measures in the city in 2014. Thanks to the solutions including counselling, support, building blocks in the city have saved 535.3 TOEs and reduced 2,118 tons of CO2 emissions.

The following three innovations to the heating/cooling industries have inspired cost-effective and efficient methods to regulate temperatures in vastly different environments that can help improve environmental conditions as well as the everyday lives of the people who use them.

To top off the green changes, in another energy saving move, almost all of the lighting on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower has been converted to LED.

“Presence,” being tested in Hawaii, is yielding surprising energy savings–9 percent to 10 percent –by motivating people to change their energy use behavior.

Researchers at Temple University have shown that a strong electric field applied to a section of pipeline can smooth oil flow and yield significant pump energy savings in oil transport. Tests on a section of the Keystone pipeline found that the same flow rate could be achieved with a 75 percent reduction of pump power from 2.8 megawatts to 0.7 megawatts,

The energy footprint of a Solace appliance is approximately the same as a single server, so the energy saving is 90-98% across the messaging estate – with better performance, higher reliability and lower cost (you don’t have to buy those 50 servers).

You spend a lot of time in your kitchen, whether you’re prepping for dinner or eating breakfast over the morning paper – but how much energy is your kitchen wasting on a daily basis? Probably more than you realize.

Restaurant equipments have to be arranged in such a way that they can save the energy. The very first functionality is to use tools and equipments, which will consume lower energy to give the same output through the use over the same period of time.

The best heaters on the market use a combination of convection and radiant heat. These space heaters are referred to as panel heaters. They blend approximately 80% of the convection technology with 20% of radiant. They are highly energy efficient and warm larger spaces quickly and quietly.

The project is expected to save the Army Materiel Command depot nearly 14.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year -- enough energy to power more than 1,360 homes on average, and an environmental benefit of cutting an estimated 72 million pounds of carbon dioxide each year, which is equivalent to removing more than 6,300 cars from the road.
