In the period 2011-2015, Can Tho Energy Conservation Center (Can Tho ECC) spent over VND4 billion from the state budget for the activities to save energy. However, to achieve a better result for energy efficiency, more support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade is needed.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai assigned the Government Affairs Office and Ministry of Industry and Trade the task to develop a study scheme, and submit it to the Government for issuance of a Strategy for development of renewable energy in Vietnam toward 2030 and vision to 2050.

In the implementation of energy development strategy, Ministry of Industry and Trade presided over the preparation of policies to support the development of renewable energy sources such as wind power, biomass power, electricity generated from solid wastes and solar power.

Denmark and Vietnam have a long-term cooperation in the field of climate change response and energy. Many projects have been rolled out by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade with the Danish Embassy; Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building.

Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee has just issued a written request to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to propose Wind Power Project, namely LandVille in Ninh Thuan (Hanbaram), as an additional item in wind power development planning for Ninh Thuan toward 2020, with Vision to 2030.

On June 18, in Hanoi, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strengthening the mutual cooperation in the field of industry and renewable energy for energy conservation.

As it is planned for June 18, 2015, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hanoi, there will be MoU signing ceremony between Vietnam MOIT and the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building on cooperation in energy saving and renewable energy industry.

On June 12, 2015, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam General Department of Energy and GIZ's energy unit signed an agreement to support the Project on up-scaling the wind power in Vietnam.

Since 2012, the General Department of Energy - Ministry of Industry and Trade has been controlling the assignment conducted by the Poli-techniques Solar Energy Investment and Development Company Ltd. in coordination with Ha Giang Power Company to implement 3 projects with a total number of 149 benefited households.

It is on May 20 morning in Hanoi when the International Trade Fair Entech HANOI 2015 was opened under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee and Busan (South Korea) city representatives.

On May 18, the workshop to "Review the Vietnam Energy Efficiency Standard and Labeling Program" was held. The project has been implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2012 with funding from the Australian Government.

New cars (7 seats or fewer) must have energy label from January 1st, 2015 under Inter-ministerial Joint Circular No. 43/2014/TTLT BGTVT-BCT promulgated by the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Industry and Trade on energy labeling for motor vehicles.

On April 20, 2015, under the guidance of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for construction of Energy Manager Training Center in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, Hanoi.

On February 5th, 2014, a meeting of the Project Steering Committee of Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency Project (LCEE) in the field of energy saving in Vietnam took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

On February 7th in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized Earth Hour 2015 Launching Campaign at Thong Nhat Park with the technical support of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam.

On September 5th, 2013, in Hanoi, General Department of Energy (GDoE) – Ministry of Industry and Trade held a workshop to announce the new financing mechanism about lending schemes of renewable energy development projects (REDP).
