The plant has been constructed on 641ha and includes two engine combinations with total capacity of 1,244MW (each of which has capacity of 622MW). The plant will produce 7.2 billion of kWh annually. The Dongfang Electric Corporation is the project’s contractor and the Construction Consultancy Company 2 will supervise its construction.

The Duyen Hai Thermoelectric Plant is constructed according to traditional design and has modern burning technology. The plant is fueled with Vietnam antraxit coal. The plant will guarantee demands of productivity, stability, safety and the environmental protection factors due to applications of dust filter methods using advanced equipment. The plant annually consumes 3.5 million of coal transported from Hon Gai, Cam Pha in Quang Ninh Province by ships which has loading capacity of 30,000DWT.

It is estimated that the first engine combination will come into use by September 2014 with the second engine combination starting running by November 2014.
