The world’s most sustainable companies are in Europe.
That’s according to a report by RobecoSAM which analyses the sustainability performance of 454 firms worldwide in 2015.
The report, which will be presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos later this month, stated 36 European companies out of 203 received a gold medal which represents the highest score in sustainability.
Asia Pacific is the region with the second best score with 21 firms out of 116 winning the gold medal.
Around 12 companies out of 87 analysed in North America got the biggest rate, according to the ‘Sustainability Yearbook 2016’.
The Electronic Equipment Instruments & Components (ITC) industry is the most sustainable, stated the report, followed by the hotel, resort and cruise lines industry.
Michael Baldinger, CEO RobecoSAM said: “Sustainability has come a long way since the founding of RobecoSAM in 1995. What was once a very niche concept is now becoming more mainstream, even among the investment community. For this reason, it is more important than ever that companies report on the positive financial impacts of their sustainability initiatives.”
