The project goal is to reduce 236,382 tons of CO2 by improving energy efficiency in commercial buildings and condominiums in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

The departments of Ho Chi Minh city including the Transportation, Health, Education - Training with 11 state-owned corporations, enterprises are among the vanguard implementers in compliance of 2015 - 2017 norms for energy efficiency.

Economical use of energy or green energy use will bring many benefits to the economy and the environment. This fact has been demonstrated evidently in many major cities around the world. Vietnam also has many solutions, specific support policies to realize the application of energy saving solutions and green energy use in production and daily life

In the implementation of the Law on economical and efficient use of energy, Directive No.171/CT-TTg dated November 26, 2011 by the Prime Minister, Directive No.06/2011/CT-UBND and Green Energy Programme of Ho Chi Minh City in 2015 in the phase of 2011-2015, Ho Chi Minh City continues to perform its leading role in the implementation of guidelines on power saving.

The Conference on 5-year implementation of National Target Program for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (phase 2011-2015) was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 30, 2015.

On October 24, 2015, German House Company Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City held the official ground breaking ceremony for construction of the German Styled House at 33 Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

The effort in propaganda about power saving of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) brought fully satisfactory results: in the first nine months of 2015, Ho Chi Minh City saved 338,416,702 kWh, achieving 85.59% of the target in 2015 assigned by EVN, which is 394,000,000 kWh.

In the afternoon of October 02, 2015, a Ceremony of Acceptance and Handover of equipment of Green Hospital Project among Vietnam – Germany Friendship Hospital, Mitsubishi Group and Ho Chi Minh City Energy Conservation Center was organized in Hanoi.

In the period 2011 - 2015, Electricity of Ho Chi Minh City (EVNHCM) has made a remarkable effort in the movement "Entire country joining hands to build a new rural countryside", "Building typical transmission line and station model", "Promoting innovation, technical modification" and power savings ... to contribute to boosting efficiency in production and business, labor productivity, thereby striving to improve the quality of power distribution and customer services.

On September 11th, at the headquarters of Electricity of Ho Chi Minh City, Conference on Exchanging and Collecting Electric Foreign-Invested Enterprises Ideas was held by Electricity of Ho Chi Minh City (EVN HCMC) and Ho Chi Minh Industrial and Export Processing Zones Administration (HEPZA) to clear customers' queries and disseminate policies on energy savings.

The young people in HCMC having ideas and solutions on issues of environmental protection, energy saving, climate change can participate in the Contest on Youth Innovative Ideas 2015 organized by the Ho Chi Minh city Center for Youth Science & Technology Development.

The Quality Assurance and Testing Center 3 (QUATEST 3) has received and put into use a test equipment system to test energy efficiency of air conditioners. This equipment system is sponsored by the International Cooperation Agency of Japan (JICA) and installed in the new experimental headquarters of QUATEST 3 in Cat Lai Industrial Zone, Ho Chi Minh City.

The solution with commitment to save energy was launched in March, then the city became the first locality in the country where commitment to implement energy-saving targets is signed.

Solar panels (40 pieces) were installed at the school, capable of providing about 30kWh of electricity per day, to meet the essential energy demands for running the essential equipment of the school activities.

The nation’s demand for electricity is forecast to increase two-fold over the next six years primarily fuelled by economic growth, according to speakers at a recent meeting in Ho Chi Minh City discussing the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement.

Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation organized a series of communication programs on power savings for students in upper primary schools. The program took place at the Office of Information & Communication on Safe and Economical Use of Energy. This is an activity within the plan to propagate the safe, economical and efficient use of electricity for the people, pupils and students in the city.

According to Ho Chi Minh city Department of Science and Technology, only 1% of enterprises have modern technology in their production line. And 51% of them have average production technology. The rest have backward production technology.

In accordance with the communication plan 2015 and the plan "Pink Holidays 2015" on promoting the Safe- Economical- Efficient use of electricity, targeting at the people, pupils and students who live and study in the area of Ho Chi Minh City, HCM city Power Corporation held a series of communication programs for primary school students at the Office of Public Communication at No. 1 Phan Dang Luu - Binh Thanh District, on saving energy.

Starting in August 2015, the Training Center will run its commissioning training with the first course for energy auditors, supported by the Japanese energy experts.
