The effort in propaganda about power saving of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) brought fully satisfactory results: in the first nine months of 2015, Ho Chi Minh City saved 338,416,702 kWh, achieving 85.59% of the target in 2015 assigned by EVN, which is 394,000,000 kWh.

Ho Chi Minh City is not only one of the center-point areas of power consumption but also the leading city in power-saving movement in the country. In the role of electricity supplier and power-saving propagandist, EVN HCMC has implemented programs and activities of power-saving propaganda with the purpose of raising people’s awareness of power saving.

The aims of propaganda activities are to let the people from all social classes in areas of the city gain good access to policies, help them understand the significance of power saving to the environment and the entire society. Electric companies have worked in collaboration with authorities of streets to propagandize the information such as solutions to safe and economical use of power; electric bill payment service via banks and electronic services; the sequence of shortening the period of supplying customers with electricity via transformer stations in accordance with the Circular No.33 of Ministry of Industry and Trade on lowering the index of access to electric power; propaganda about the situation of violation of electricity use so as to prevent behaviors of violating regulations on electricity use … in meetings of residential groups.

EVN HCMC developed the programme “Safe and economical use of power with friends” with the aim of helping students in areas of the city develop skills in safe, economical and efficient use of power and give first aid to people at risks of electricity shock. Up to present, EVN HCMC has organized this programme at 51 schools and in areas of summer activities with the participation of 6,456 students; the programme “Family of power saving” for households; meetings about consultancy and introduction to policy on power saving, introduction to programmes and financial funds for supporting businesses in the implementation of technological innovation and capacity enhancement in collaboration with Energy conservation center; the programme “Typical power-saving routes” with the purpose of propagandizing and guiding private business households having outdoor advertising boards on streets to know methods of economical and effective use of power.

Through meetings about propaganda, EVN HCMC encouraged people to change their power-using habits simply in order to save power and costs, and more importantly, to diminish influences on the nature so as to protect the environment.

In the coming time, EVN HCMC continues to maintain propaganda activities and programmes of economical use of power which were organized previously, and carry out the tasks such as cooperating with Ho Chi Minh City Energy Conservation Center – Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology in the implementation of “Programme of pilot establishment of support mechanism for investment in solar electricity in areas of Ho Chi Minh City in 2015”, and conduct the programme of propaganda about power saving – safety, power services to streets and clusters,…

Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has achieved 85.89% of assigned power consumption target, equal to over 2.3% compared to commercial power.
