The construction of Aeon Mall Ha Dong began in March 2018, and officially opened in December 2019. The shopping mall spans 9.5 hectares, accommodating 200 retail stores across various sectors, including dining, entertainment, cinema, fashion, and accessories, welcoming approximately 12 to 15 million visitors per year.

According to Mr. Suzuki Atsuyuki, General Manager of Aeon Mall Ha Dong, the building consumes 2.7 million kWh/month in summer and 2.0 million kWh/month in winter. The mall places great emphasis on energy efficiency, aiming to optimize operating costs and promote sustainability and environmental protection. Aeon Mall Ha Dong has proactively implemented a comprehensive set of solutions, from investing in modern technology to enhancing operational management.
"In the current context of climate change and increasing energy resource scarcity, energy efficiency and conservation have become a key factor in Aeon Mall Ha Dong's development strategy. Additionally, it helps the shopping mall maintain stable operations and minimize the impact of rising energy costs," Mr. Suzuki Atsuyuki emphasized.

The mall incorporates thermal insulation systems and smart windows with carefully selected materials and designs to minimize heat loss while maximizing natural light utilization. Additionally, green landscaping has been strategically placed to create a cooler environment without relying heavily on energy-consuming electrical systems.

LED Lighting System: The mall predominantly uses LED lighting, and motion sensors have been installed in internal areas to significantly reduce electricity consumption.
Installation of Inverters for AHUs: In 2022, the mall installed inverters for 10 Air Handling Units (AHUs) to optimize operation and save energy, resulting in an annual energy savings of 360 MWh, equivalent to a 38.6% reduction in energy consumption.
Solar Power Installation In 2024, Aeon Mall Ha Dong installed a rooftop solar energy system with a capacity of 850 kWp, which has helped reduce total monthly electricity consumption by 2.8%.
Several other initiatives have been implemented to enhance energy efficiency, including: Installing motion sensors on escalators; Applying heat-insulating film on walls and glass doors; Installing air curtains at entrances; Using inverters for wastewater treatment blowers; Installing ventilation ducts connected to exhaust fan systems.
In addition to technical solutions, Aeon Mall Ha Dong focuses on operational efficiency to further reduce energy consumption. The mall monitors daily energy consumption using Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Management Systems (DMS) to adjust operations accordingly and achieve optimal energy efficiency.
Operational changes include: Adjusting chiller temperature settings; Reducing fan operating hours; Rotational shutdown of AHUs and scheduling their operation based on weather conditions; Optimizing display cabinet on/off settings; Modifying lighting schedules to turn off lights when unnecessary.
According to Mr. Suzuki Atsuyuki, these energy-saving solutions have brought significant benefits to the mall. The reduced electricity consumption has helped Aeon Mall Ha Dong optimize operating costs and maximize profits, while also minimizing environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
"In 2024, thanks to the successful implementation and maintenance of energy-saving measures, Aeon Mall Ha Dong saved 500,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to a 2% reduction in total energy consumption," Mr. Suzuki Atsuyuki stated.
