Throughout the UK, large consumers of energy are coming under scrutiny, due to concerns about their impact on power grids and on the environment.
-
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to ensure adequate power supply next year and to focus on developing power generation sources and the grid.
-
Black & Veatch said that the microgrid solution will allow operations at mission-critical facilities to continue uninterrupted if the utility power grid is compromised or damaged.
-
Available to pre-order in Europe in September 2016, the ‘xStorage’ unit will connect to the power grid or renewable generators.

Hai Phong Power Company will replace the power metering system with the mixed power source metering system on Bach Long Vi Island.
-
The last commune in Quang Ngai province, Ly Son island, has finally been connected to the power grid thanks to great efforts of EVNCPC and Quang Ngai Power Company.
-
The project has completed the new construction of 156,45km transmission line and renovation of 99,43km of medium voltage line; new construction of 182,51km and renovation of 63,68km low voltage line; construction of 128 substations with a capacity of 4905 kVA and installation of 2,862 electric meters.
-
Incorporating wind power into existing power grids is challenging because fluctuating wind speed and direction means turbines generate power inconsistently.

Before the solar power grid was completed, the New Zealand-administered grouping of three coral atolls, with a population of just 1,500, relied on diesel generators for electricity.
-
Qatar will build a smart national power grid to facilitate intelligent and reliable energy distribution as part of its World Cup 2022 strategy, said a senior official.
-
The new iPower consortium comprising 32 partners has been officially opened on 22 August 2011 to begin the huge task of opening the door for incorporating more renewable energies into the upcoming power grids.
-
A researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has invented a method of making high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cables that are thinner and more flexible than demonstration HTS cables now installed in the electric power grid while carrying the same or more current. The compact cables could be used in the electric grid as well as scientific and medical equipment and may enable HTS power transmission for military applications.

Adding 265 gigawatts of wind-sourced electricity into the European grids by 2020 is expected to save 41.7 billion euros in electricity costs annually. Market trends and limited infrastructure stand in the way of wind power growth in Europe, stopping the inflow of billions of euros in power savings, according to a new report by the European Wind Energy Association.

Cars and trucks race down the highway, turn off into town, wait at traffic lights and move slowly through side streets. Electricity flows in a similar way -- from the power plant via high voltage lines to transformer substations. The flow is controlled as if by traffic lights. Cables then take the electricity into the city centre. Numerous switching points reduce the voltage, so that equipment can tap into the electricity at low voltage. Thanks to this highly complex infrastructure, the electricity customer can use all kinds of electrical devices just by switching them on.

The Song Hau Power Center is defined as a regional power center whose core functions are to supply power to the national power grid (mainly serving southern areas and ensuring national power balance) through the 220/500kW north-south power transmission line. The center will include three coal-burnt thermo-power plants: the Song Hau 1 power plant (2x600MW), the Song Hau 2 power plant (2x1,000MW) and the Song Hau 3 power plant (2x1,000MW) and other associated infrastructure projects.

Some young fellows stare at a big TV screen and shout noisily as they are watching a World Cup 2010 football match. Some electric fans run at their maximal speed to soothe the ongoing summer heat. The pigsty system behind the house of Tran Van Tam in Phu Trung hamlet, An Phu commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City also gets cooled with home-made ventilation panels. It is unlikely that the area does not benefit from the national power grid and often incurs power outages.

When we pay our electricity bill, we are paying for more than just the operation of wind turbines or nuclear power stations. What with rental for the electricity meter, costs for using the power grids, value-added tax and a tax on electricity, coupled with a surcharge for the preferred sourcing of green power, the final price we pay is effectively double the generation cost.
