On March 14, 2022 afternoon, the consultation workshop on recommendations for the structure of and potential funding sources for an incentive scheme for the energy efficiency in the industry was held under the Vietnam - Denmark Energy Partnership Program in the period 2020-2025 (DEPP3).

On 9/3/2022, the task force of experts from the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, Danish Energy Agency, worked with representatives of the Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) on the route to implement activities of 3rd development engagement of Vietnam-Denmark Energy Partnership Programme in the period of 2020-2025 (DEPP3 Programme).

Smart city development is currently a trend in the world and Vietnam. In Vietnam, many big cities such as Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City are the leading cities in applying lighting solutions to develop smart cities.

On October 28, 2021, the signing ceremony of the Agreement between the two Governments on Development Cooperation took place in the Vietnam - Denmark Energy Partnership Program in the period of 2020 - 2025.

The energy structure in the next 10 years will change due to the impact of the pandemic as well as policy adjustments and sustainability as it recovers. Therefore, from now on, businesses in the Vietnamese energy industry need to plan and come up with an implementation strategy to be able to adapt to the new normal.

In the context of rapidly increasing energy demand, Vietnam has accelerated the transition to green and clean energy, gradually reducing fossil energy... in order to develop sustainable energy. This has actively supported the supply of power sources, especially in the recent time in the Northern region when there is a shortage of power sources and high loads, contributing to ensuring electricity supply for the whole period of 2021-2025.

At the virtual conference with the Minister for Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Greg Hands on the afternoon of October 21, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that Vietnam prioritizes to develop renewable energy, reduce coal-fired power, strive to achieve carbon neutrality soon.

In a virtual meeting with Mr. Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry in mid-October, Vietnam's Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that the energy crisis is taking place in the world, especially in Europe, the US and China, showing that energy is always an important issue that many countries focus on solving.

The 3rd Energy Security Dialogue has an important message for both Vietnam and the US. It is an appropriate time for Vietnam and the US to update each other on the national energy development plan according to appropriate energy transition orientations, in line with the global climate change mitigation trend.

The US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City said that it has just sponsored AMI AC Renewables Renewable Energy Company to implement a pilot project to develop an energy storage battery system using leading US technology.

Vietnam's national electricity development planning in period of 2021-2030, vision to 2045 is to diversify energy sources, reduce fossil energy with a roadmap towards sustainable development.

Over the years, Vietnam has shown a strong determination in exploiting and using renewable energy with a long-term vision of a sustainable energy transition.

The US President's special envoy, Mr. John Kerry, affirmed that the US is ready to support Vietnam to become a leading country in the region in clean and renewable energy technology with specific cooperation projects.

The level of energy waste in industrial production facilities in Vietnam remains high. According to preliminary calculations, the industrial sector accounts for 47% of annual energy consumption and the potential for energy saving is estimated at about 20% - 30%.

The Danish Government is committed to provide non-refundable ODA of 60.29 million Krone, equivalent to 8.96 million USD for Vietnam to implement the Project "Danish - Vietnamese Energy Partnership Programme for the period 2020- 2025” (as known as DEPP3).

Energy security and sustainable energy sector development have always been the top concern of the Government of Vietnam. Over the years, the Government has always made efforts to increase energy efficiency.
