Alexandria Renew Enterprises has begun operating a system to help clean wastewater that is expected to save up to 25 percent on energy and chemicals compared to conventional wastewater cleaning processes.

Faced with climate change causing serious consequences, energy saving has become more urgent than ever. In Da Lat city (Lam Dong province), energy saving has become a mass movement, not only popular in the manufacturing enterprises and households but also spreading to all the public offices.

According to forecasts, this year, the hot and sunny weather will last longer, with significant impacts on the environment, especially water resources. Therefore, power savings is no longer only the task of electricity industry but also of common public concerns.

Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with the Quang Ngai Power Company to review the power-saving operations in 2014 and the activities to be deployed in 2015. Officials from local offices, units and enterprises came to attend the review meeting.

During April 4-21, 2015 the Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with EVN Hanoi examines the use of energy in 92 key enterprises in 12 districts of Hanoi to assess the level of energy consumption and the observance of the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy.

Small and medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam account for 40% of total energy consumption in the industrial sector. The potentiality for energy efficiency is large, but local policies to promote savings for the sectors of brick, ceramics and food processing are not really showing the effects.

Andijan city hosted a seminar “Increasing efficiency of energy resources use at the industrial enterprises” for representatives of mass media. The seminar was organized by the World Bank Country Office in Uzbekistan and Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.

Experts of LCEE Project Mission worked with the Provincial Department of Industry & Trade, Can Tho Energy Conservation Center and the representatives of locally based banks in the area to reach the potential enterprises in food processing industry.

The LCEE Project has successfully organized the Workshop on the Green Investment Facility to support SMEs in the food processing industry in Can Tho. The Project officers provided instructions to companies involved in the project to complete the loan application dossiers.

LCEE Project introduced the technology of continuous kiln to brick and ceramic business owners in Vinh Long. This technology helps businesses save up to 50% energy and reduce pollution by 80%.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Jen Lorentzen appreciated the positive and active cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in its deployment of the LCEE project to small and medium enterprises in three sectors: brick, ceramics and food processing.

In an effort to achieve more results from the National Target Program on Energy Conservation and Efficiency, in 2015, the program will focus on solutions to in-depth communication and stronger support for enterprises to bring about the best effects in energy efficiency.

These savings would also ensure carbon emission (CO2) reductions of 8.7-17.6 million tonnes a year, according the study, ‘Research to Assess the Barriers and Drivers to Energy Efficiency in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises’.

In 2014, with more drastic measures and policies to support businesses, Hanoi Energy Conservation Center (Hanoi ECC) is considered to have fulfilled the national target program on the economical and effective use of energy, especially for industrial production enterprises in the capital.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam account for the majority in business community. In addition to over 40% of GDP contribution, these enterprises account for 40% of total energy consumption of the industry.

The Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) and the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA) organized a conference on improving energy efficiency for large enterprises in order to help them implement energy-saving solutions, save costs and improve competitiveness.
