With 5.25 million kWh, equivalent to VND7.51 billion saved by 45,675 households in 2014, Haiphong Power Limited Company has succeeded with the Power savings emulating program.
In 2014, Hai Phong Power Company saved 69.88 million kWh
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, power consumption in households accounts for about 35-40% of the total consumption. Therefore, the task of encouraging everyone to save power was deeply focused. Many activities have been implemented and received positive responses from people. As a result, thousands of families voluntarily turned off the light for 1 hour during the Earth Hour Campaign of 2014, helping the city save about 35,000 kWh, an increase of 9.37% compared to 2013 (at the average price in 2014 of VND1476/kWh, this is equivalent to savings of VND51.66 million).
The company regularly checks customer's electricity usage, especially at peak hours
In 2014, pursuant to Directive 08/CTUBND dated March 10th 2011 of Hai Phong People's Committee on strengthening the implementation of power savings and ensuring safety and stability, the Company, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry regularly inspected customers when using power, especially at peak hours in the evening. It also co-organized contest to raise public awareness about power savings, encouraging customers to use electricity safely, economically and efficiently through mass media and propaganda leaflets; encouraging customers to use power-saving products such as compact fluorescent light bulbs, solar water heaters and replace old equipment with better devices; giving out 3,000 handbooks, brochures, posters on the use of electricity and energy efficiency in buildings and offices. Besides, the company has cooperated with youth groups in Hai Phong City, Energy Efficiency Center - Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade to encourage primary schools and junior high schools in the city to sign and launch a campaign to use electricity safely, economically and efficiently in 2014.
Up to now, the good propaganda movement has successfully built up a campaign to help every household use electricity economically. At the same time, with the support of local government, and of its customers, in 2014, Haiphong Power Company saved a total of 69.88 million kWh of electricity.
