Since 2012, MOIT and Hanoi People's Committee have directed and collaborated with departments of the city to successfully host the Earth Hour event, creating beautiful impressions of the capital to foreign and domestic residents.
Responding to the Earth Hour campaign in 2015, MOIT proposed that Hanoi People's Committee continues to coordinate with the Ministry in organizing activities to raise awareness of community about energy savings, environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. The event will take place throughout the nation during March of 2015.

For the municipal and provincial Department of Industry and Trade under central government, MOIT suggests communication activities and awareness raising to the community during March of 2015. At the same time, advocating organizations, agencies and people will take part in turn-off-the-lights event from 20h30 to 21h30 on March 28th 2015.
Corporations, government corporations, agencies, units of the Industry and Trade sectors should also implement specific and practical activities to respond to Earth Hour such as organizing propaganda activities about energy saving and efficiency, calling related companies to turn off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment.
"Earth Hour is an annual international event initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Vietnam first participated in Earth Hour campaign in 2009.
Earth Hour encourages households and businesses to turn off the lights and other unimportant electrical appliances for an hour from 20h30 to 21h30 (local time) on the last Saturday of March annually.
This year, the event will take place in August Revolution Square from 20h30 to 21h30 on March 28th.
