Signing ceremony for energy-savings target

HCMC is targeting at an image of a green city with green growth factors. In particular, the efficient use of resources and energy is one of the mandatory criteria of green growth. Therefore, HCMC aims to use energy efficiently for all units in the City. In particular, state units must be the pioneer. 16 units committing to energy savings targets from 2015 to 2017 include corporations and HCMC trade unions of cooperatives (Co-op Mart supermarket chain), Board of Management of Export Processing Zones, Industrial Zone (Hepza), health facilities (Department of Health), schools (Department of Education and Training) and public lighting (Department of Transportation).

These state units will be assigned by HCMC People's Committee with energy savings targets, by Department of Science and Technology to implement the construction of energy-saving measures (such as technology, equipment and machinery innovation, changing lighting systems, consulting solutions, training to improve energy savings capacity, etc) to help fulfill the above targets.

According to calculations by HCMC Department of Science and Technology, with thorough implementation of this criterion, after three years of this program, Ho Chi Minh City will save 481 million kWh of electricity and 5.6 million liters of oil, equivalent to VND807 billion and reduce 285 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
