Development of nuclear power (nuke power) for peaceful purposes is the consistent policy of Vietnam. This is one of the perspective and the legal basis for Vietnam's most important policy developed specifically for nuclear power reactors. This view was reflected in the decision to approve the Orientation for nuclear power planning and development in Vietnam toward 2030 by the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, the development of nuclear power is based on modern and proven technology, in a long-term program to proceed to the formation of nuclear power industry of Vietnam. Ministry of Industry and Trade is assigned to monitor, supervise, inspect and control the implementation of the newly oriented nuclear power plant construction projects. The Ministry has to take hold of the planning process, investment and development of the nuclear power plant and any newly arisen problems to report to the Prime Minister for consideration, adjustment, and supplement into the appropriate orientation for nuclear power reactors  development  in Vietnam.

To realize the advocated nuclear power development policy, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has assigned Ministry of Industry and Trade to urgently complete the Scheme on "mechanism, specific policies for investment project of nuclear power plant construction in Ninh Thuan" to submit it to the Prime Minister by August, 2015. Accordingly, there should be reports on the experience of countries with nuclear power plants,  and the proposed mechanisms and policies to support socio-economic development for regions under the impact of the project during construction and operation of a nuclear power plant.
