November 27, 2015. In Vietnam German Center, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a Workshop "Presentation on the results of research, design and manufacture of prototype of biomass gasifier stove and its deployment with high capacity using compressed biomass fuel pellets" was held by the Center for Innovative Consulting and Sustainable Development Research (CCS).
Among the attendants there were representatives of Center for Innovative Consulting and Sustainable Development Research (CCS); representatives of the Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency Project (LCEE Project) and some small and medium sized enterprises, companies operating in the field of industrial production, and nature conservation entities.

According to the UN, in the developing countries including Vietnam, every year, 1.5 million people die and gets many diseases related to indoor air pollution caused by indoor cooking and daily activities. Meanwhile, the potential production of biomass pellets has not been tapped efficiently. The consumers tend to use the efficient, cheap stove, with low operating costs, safety and environmental friendliness. On that basis, the solution with biomass gasifier stove was introduced by CCS, through research, testing in Ha Giang, Da Nang and Ba Vi (Ha Noi) and the pilot test obtained positive results in terms of energy conservation, protection of the environment and meeting the needs of social use.
Biomass gasifier stove is of low cost in operation (VND1,500 for one family meal) thanks to high-performance, as many as 10 times more efficient than the traditional way of cooking, easy to use with a lifespan of components up to 10 years. The byproducts of the stove are highly valuable biological charcoal, which could be used to improve the soil and filter the water. The fuel material is lightweight, easy to buy and easy to store. Concurrently, this type of stove is very clean and safe for the health of users, as it does not produce smell, no risk of fire or flare-up, no risk of burns or electrocution.

Biomass gasifier stove brings about positive effects in environment protection, as it uses the pellets made of agricultural and forest waste. As a result, it directly reduces the emissions into the environment; such as emission from burning or naturally decomposed decay soothing out methane (causing the greenhouse effect as much as 25 folds compared with CO2). The use of this type of stove reduces the indoor pollution caused by cooking smoke and solid fuels, and to improve the living environment for the community. Furthermore, an ecosystem of biomass gasifier stove including the stove manufacture, stove maintenance, and the production and distribution of pellets, collection of biochar, will create a lot of jobs.
However, the deployment of biomass gasifier stove project and the massive use of the product on the market still face many difficulties and obstacles. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai - Head of Technology and Renewable Energy (CCS) said that several difficulties for the massive use of this stove were with the limited awareness of biomass gasifier technology; secondly, the ecosystems of this brand new product on the market and the synchronized deployment of this ecosystem was in fact difficult.
Also at the workshop, representatives of small and medium sized industrial enterprises raised many questions about the production and the use of stoves, as a contribution to the research finalization and the deployment of biomass gasifier stove project.
The Solution of biomass gasifier stove has created the premise and foundation of technology for public shift from polluting cooking practice, which is harmful for the health, to the future use of the Cleaner and Greener energy with lower costs as contrasted to the use of fossil energy.
