The Director of the Bac Giang provincial Center for Energy Conservation, Mr. Duong Van Tuan, said that for the period 2016 - 2020, the province would strive to save 5-8% of total energy consumption; with focus on prioritizing the replication of energy saving and efficiency families.

Power consumption in domestic use now accounts for about 45% of commercial energy in Bac Giang province. It is forecasted that the future energy demands of domestic use in the province continue to increase due to economic development, and the increasing popularity in the use of electrical equipment in families.

For effective implementation of the campaign "Households with Economical and Efficient Use of Energy" in the time to come, Bac Giang strengthens the communication, promotion and mobilization of people in using the energy efficiency lighting bulbs (T8, T5, compact fluorescent lamps, LEDs ...). These bulbs use renewable energy sources, solar energy-based water heating equipment, and biomass energy/ biogas use for domestic use.  The provincial services will build the demonstration models and organize, and launch competitions, the contest "Households with Economical and Efficient Use of Energy", "Power Saving Family" to promote the domestic use of energy-efficiency and high-performance appliances, energy labeling products, and restriction of the operation of high power electrical appliances during peak hours.

The Provincial authorities will encourage the electrical manufacturing enterprises, businesses to introduce their power saving products, with various types of sales promotion such as applicable discount in selling energy-saving devices and technologies to hearten the agencies, families, and people to buy and use energy efficiency products. In the coming years, the Women's Union will strengthen the coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Power Company to conduct a campaign in energy efficiency; positive and active communication with their officials and members about the benefits, methods and skills to use the equipment and appliances in the home, to ensure good conservation of electricity, gas, and petrol.

Currently, there are 386,740 households in Bac Giang province. In 2015, the total tradable electricity output for households reaches 725.53 million kWh (average consumption of a household is at 1,876 kWh/year). Household electricity bills in the province are payable annually at VND 1,100 billion. As reported by the survey of Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade, the electricity saving potential in the residential area of the province is quite huge (10-20%).

In 2013, the Provincial Center for Energy Conservation built a model "Households with Economical and Efficient Use of Energy" in Tran Nguyen Han Ward, Bac Giang city and since then it has achieved good results. For replication of households with Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, in 2015 the province organized training courses to provide the model-related knowledge for 1,000 women members in the province. In 2015, the provincial Women's Union organized nearly 3,200 integrated sessions of promotions, including the movement of "Households with Economical and Efficient Use of Energy" for over 278,000 cadres, and its members. The province has supported the construction, and installation of over 6,800 biogas tanks, 8,960 solar energized water heaters. The program "Primary Schools Joining Hands to Save Power" was deployed in 10 districts, the city has attracted 14,500 students and over 500 teachers to participate. The Emulation program "Power Saving Families" in the province has attracted dozen thousands of households to get involved. In 2015, Bac Giang has saved approximately 23.7 million kWh of electricity.
